The latest track from Von Wildenhaus is a sinister offering that provides an almost apocalyptic experience. ‘Ghost Moon’ is a gentle, avant-garde pop ballad recorded in a living room, combining janky yet mellow sounds with haunting folk melodies. Droll and swaying in its delivery, the track is unsettling and yet remains quite beautiful, guided by lilting textures and decadent crescendos of strings. Ben von Wildenhaus explains: “Uncannily reminiscent of Nico and the Velvets, yet enchanted with strains of iridescent melody and demented rhythms all its own, Ghost Moon is a wry ballad of shambolic adoration and unfailing devotion.” Rather than releasing a standard album, the artist is dropping a series of nine warped pop tunes; this is the fifth, and will be available on CD at their UK live shows this September. -Dan Peeke
